What is Krishna Janmashtami?
Krishna Janmashtami is a Festival celebrated on the occasion of Lord Krishna birth.
Janmashtami is celebrated not only in India but also celebrated all over the world.For example-Two million people from U.S alone celebrate Krishna Janmashtami festival and about nine hundred million people all over the world celebrate this festival.
If I talk about the specially of Lord Krishna then-He is the most charming,the most romantic lover,the most mischiefs son and the most compassionate friend.And on Janmashtami,devotees celebrate Krishna in all of these aspects.
According to Indian History,Krishna was born around 5,000 years ago in Mathura.It is considered that Sri Krishna is one of the most powerful human on the Earth and was the form of Lord Vishnu.
Krishna was born in a prison in the custody of his cruel uncle Kansh.After the birth of Sri Krishna from his mother Devaki,Krishna Father Vasudev,immediately decided to hand over his child to his friend Nand to save Krishna from the cultch of Kansh.And when Krishna grew up he killed his uncle Kansh and due to this incident, the sole objective of Sri Krishna's birth was to free the Earth from the evilness of demons.
Sri Krishna spend most of his life in Mathura and Vrindavan,So on the occasion of Janmashtami celebration temples and homes are beautifully decorated and illuminated.
All over the India,Janmashtami is celebrated with pujas,devotional songs and dance,arti and much more.
When is Krishna Janmashtami?
Krishna Janmashtami simply known as Janmashtami is annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna.According to Hindu Lunar calendar,it is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapada and according to Gregorian calendar,it is celebrated in month of Agust or September.
In this year ie in 2017,Janmashtami is on Monday,14 August.
How to Celebrate Krishna Janmashtami at home?
On this day,people prepare an artificial temple for Lord Krishna with the help of raw bamboo.They decorate that temple beautifully and decorate their homes also.Then people invite their all friends and relatives to participate in the festivities.Have a midnight aarti with kirtan.This is the exact time that Krishna appeared on this planet,so it is most auspicious and spiritually inspiring.And finally a prasad is distributed all over the gathered mob of people.This is how Janmashtami is celebrated at home.
